hope you weren't holding your breath...

OK, so many months ago I talked about re-doing our kitchen/dining room...uuummmm...then I never posted pictures. I'm sure your life has been on hold since then. Well the wait is over! I've finally gotten off my lazy behind and took pictures and even uploaded them.
I know, you're impressed, right?!

I'm so bad at taking before pictures...I'm always just ready to get going with the project. The cabinets were orignally a "beautiful" orangy-type wood circa 1984. But they were good solid wood so we took a plain molding and covered the super-cool groove that was in the doors and painted them a nice green. the walls are a soft gray and the counter tops and floors are on the list for later...much later...

This is looking into our dining room. We had put up the bead board when we first moved in. Where the pendant lights are now hanging was a HUGE cabinet that was ridiculous in terms of actually using the counter space underneath. Those came down as soon as soon as we officially owned the place...much like the lovely blue and pink heart wallpaper. The shelves to the right was also a cabinet. You can't see it well but those are red as well as the light above the table...the light was a "throw away" at my parents' house that my mom suggested I spray paint and use...I quickly discovered when I started looking for lights that I have VERY good taste. :)
Free worked out great because I love it!

This past weekend we made the back porch more usable...Again, sorry about no before pics...it was all closed in with cement floors and screens with lattice around the bottom. We had indoor/outdoor carpet put in, closed in the bottom part with beadboard, painted blue, added a new fan and CLEANED! Did you know that if you clean a little more than once every 3 years, things look so much better?! The kids love the fact that we haven't put any furniture out there yet. They love running in a bug-free zone. (who doesn't?) Furniture is coming soon though...
We are very spoiled and have a great "work team" that comes a-running when I have a project I want to do...we couldn't do it without them! So, there you go...I'm sure more detail than you every thought you wanted to know about my humble abode but anywho...come see it for yourself sometime soon! :)

YAYYYYYYYY for a porch! Dude. I'm so excited.
And, well, I never saw the kitchen in its original form, so I can only say that I liked it that first time, when I didn't get a fork or a napkin. :)

And, listen, not to be all creepy or anything, but I checked your blog like... um... Thursday night? And nothing was there. So I thought: dang, well, it'll be like the middle of next week before she recovers from Relay and posts again.

Whatever! FOUR posts here for my perusal.
