expedition everest challenge

Wow...it has been quite the weekend! A few months ago Dave asked me to run a 5K race with him. The day had finally arrived. We left the kids with Pop and Nana (thank you!) and hit the road to Animal Kingdom...

Disney always does it right! We picked up our race packets...enjoyed some pictures at "base camp" and got ready to run...

Yep, I was ready!

...actually, I was very nervous. Usually I am headed towards bed around 8:30 which is when the race was slated to start. I have never run a race. PLUS I had to do an obstacle course and scavenger hunt. There were lots of people (around 4,000) ready to pass me and, to be totally honest, I had by no means stuck with the training schedule...not even a little.

But in the end, I am happy to report, I made it!! Dave was a FABULOUS support. I wasn't last. I loved the scavenger hunt part. I didn't fall over AND I got a cool medal!!! Even better, I was still breathing...wasn't quite sure a few times.

Now when Dave pitched this race idea to me he said we would get to go Disney by ourselves, run the race, and then do a bunch of nothing. Hang out at the hotel...relax. Come to find out later, It was Star Wars weekend at Hollywood Studios...
