greek life

Shortly after we returned from our National Pottery Convention with our minds exploding with new ideas and projects and cool ways to get people inside our studio wanting to spend money...not to mention wanting to literally rearrange the entire store...a very nice lady walked in wanting to chat about us doing some painting for her. This does happen a lot really. People come in wanting us to paint this or that. Sometimes its even a big project or fundraiser...its fun. It gives us an excuse to paint. Because, unlike the popular mis-conception about our business, we DO NOT get to sit around and paint all day. :) I wish...can I just say be careful what you wish for?? I'm getting ahead of myself...Back to the lady who walked in. She has a website that sells gifts, goodies, and all other kinds of cute stuff for 20 different Sororities. She is based right here in Brunswick, GA and she wanted to know if we would be interested in painting ball-type Christmas ornaments and crosses...uuummm, YES!!!! So she placed an order, we did samples and we were off...We have quite literally spent almost every minute of every day for a little over a week (pausing only to pick up kids from school--during that time I also eat on the run because there are no food breaks--oh yeah, we also stop to sleep...we earn it that is for sure!) painting 148 ornaments and 120 crosses. Luckily, there are 20 different sororities so the colors and letters obviously change so we don't get too bored. I have certainly learned my greek alphabet! This is the 1st evening I have not brought my work home. I never thought my shoulders, wrists, and hands could hurt so much just from sitting and painting...because, alas, that IS what I have been doing in my store lately. So I must apologize to those who check our color me happy website...I am usually very proud of how up-to-date I keep it...not lately. Also, IRS, I'm really sorry that its getting so close to the deadline this month for me to have the payroll taxes done. Hasn't happened yet. I could stripe a cute Christmas ball and write it out in greek letters for you, OK? I'm so excited about this project and the possibility of what it can bring in the future. Neil, the owner of www.sassysorority.com is fantastic and she leaves in a couple weeks to peddle our wares all over the country. While she is gone she wants us to do this whole order for her again...wahoo!!! My shoulders, wrists, and hands don't hurt so much anymore---I'm gonna try rubbing some money on them---I bet that will help...
