So, last night I had a very fun movie night with friends...my kids are on a road trip with Daddy this weekend and I have to work. boo...BUT it means that after a long day of working I get to invite some girls over to watch a girly movie. We chose "Julie and Julia". Its about a woman who decides to cook through Julia Child's cookbook in one year and blog about it. But really the movie is about two wonderful love stories...
Juila and her husband Paul lived in Paris, France for a bit and she was looking for something to do...she tried a few different classes and then Paul asked her what she loved to do. "I love to cook!" That started a train that rolled on and on...Paul was her biggest fan, biggest support, and best friend. I loved watching this love story mirror the other character's story. She wanted to write and cook and her husband cheered her on...
There was one particular scene that stands out, Julia's sister comes to visit Paris and they are eating dinner with Paul...they were just chatting and laughing and it struck me how happy they all were. I said "I want to be that happy." Then it hit me. I AM that happy.
About six years ago I was living in a town that didn't agree with me and doing a job that I had worked for four years to do and it wasn't quite what I expected. I needed a change. We were sitting in the living room and Dave looked at me and said, "Well, what do you love to do?" I said, "I love to paint pottery." and promptly gave him a "what does that have to do with anything?" look. "Open a store..."
Did I know anything about running a store? Heck, no! But Dave didn't care. He knew I would learn what I needed to know. He has always believed in me way more than I have. He is my biggest fan, my biggest support...when we started thinking about kids, I thought "How in the world can I run a store AND be a mom?" He knew it would work. Baby #2? "You can do it. You are great at both your jobs."
In the movie last night Julie and Julia worked really hard for their dreams...but their husbands also worked hard to keep their partners on track for what they knew they were capable of. And all the while they did it while laughing and living together.
It sounds silly but ever since we've been married we've called ourselves "team davis". It's somewhat of a battle cry. When we feel like we need to overcome an obstacle, big or small, we say go team davis. This makes me stronger because I know no matter what we are going to do it together. Julie and Julia had the same. It was kinda cool to see a version of my story on the screen...I don't want to get too mushy but I will borrow Paul's words to Julia---
Dave, "you are the butter to my bread, the breath to my life." Thank you.

What a sweet love story you are! Go Team Davis.
You have a good man, friend...
are you trying to make me cry?
You know I love you but I always saw you more as my princes Lea to my Han Solo right before he is dipped in carbonite and she says I love you and then in the next movie when she thaws home and he is helpless and she tells him he has hibernation sickness.... Uh, I think I have said too much.
You get the hint I do love you and you support me in so many uncountable ways that begins to remind me of another star wars sence, but I will spare you.
I was thinking about your post more yesterday afternoon & I was thinking... how appropriate that you named your studio "Color me Happy!"
(Hans Solo? I retract my former statement.)
