muffins with mom

Today was "Muffins With Mom" at Reilly-Kate's school. We got to sit in tiny chairs, listen to poems they had learned, and eat muffins and cookies for breakfast.

I got to bring home lots of surprises including my own wooden cardinal (I don't understand that either.) The best gift was a little book that the teacher had made. She has asked all the kids questions about their moms. Here is what RK had to say:
What is your Mommy's favorite food?
"She likes to eat O's for breakfast. She likes to drink water."
What is your Mommy's favorite thing to do?
"I like to make beds and I think she likes to make beds, too."
If you could surprise your Mother with anything for Mother's Day, what would it be?
"Love. And the red bird that we maked."
Of course, I was sitting on the floor with her (she was so proud) all teary-eyed and thinking how big she is getting. So far Mothers Day has been great...

Cardinal? It has to be a symbol for .... something.
Kinda like the pineapple is a symbol for friendship?
